What to Expect When Renting a Private Condo
If
you've never rented a private condo, you will notice there are several
differences from a hotel. Hopefully, you will find most of these
differences are positive. Mostly, you
will be fine if you remember that the condo is our home, please treat
it as such.
Cleaning and Maid Service
Expect
the condo to be clean when you arrive. We pay a professional cleaning
service in between every guest, but there is no service during your
stay. When you leave, it's ok to start the dishwasher and leave those
dishes in it. Otherwise, the condo should be in the same condition as you found it.
One set of sheets are provided for your stay. You do not need to wash the provided sheets when you leave. Make sure you bring your own bath, kitchen, and beach towels.
There is coin laundry available on site if you need to wash your items.
The Beach
This section of Port A's beach is the BEST.
The sand is powdery soft and the beach is very wide (the widest
section of beach in Port A). The water is seperated from the travel
lanes by pylons so no worries about cars running over your sandcastle. The
beach is a pleasant walk from this unit, or a 3 minute drive if you
want to take a car full of goodies. Don't forget your towels.
If
you visit in late spring and early summer, you may find
seaweed on the beach. The seaweed
is important for the ecosystem and health of the beach and dunes and why some sections of the beach farther from town are not
cleared.
Check In and Check Out
The
unit will be typically be ready for your arrival after 4 pm. In order
to prepare the unit for other guests, check out is 11 am. Your access
code will not allow you to enter outside of those times.
Refunds
No
refunds for early check outs or cancellations within 15 days of your
arrival (excepting mandatory evacuations). We have to pay bills too
and depend on getting rentals inorder to keep operating. We wouldn't
consider cancelling your stay less than 15 days from your arrival
because you've already made your plans, bought your new swim suits, and
paid the deposit on the fishing charter.
Smoking and Pets
No
smoking in the unit or on the patio. Our family has allergies and even
the smoke that drifts in from the patio can cause problems. Pets are
the same way, we like animals, but the dander and hair cause us
problems. You can imagine how bad pets that smoke would be.
Front Desk
There
is an office for the complex, but they don't serve private rentals.
They will enforce violations of the complex rules like pets, illegal
parking, or over occupancy issues. If there is an immediate issue (for
example water is flowing where it shouldn't) call us immediately. If
you have other problems or questions, please contact us between 9am and
9pm so we can remedy the situation. Besides, we are much more
interested in making sure you enjoy your time in our unit.
If
something breaks or is damaged, please let us know reasonably soon so
that we can fix it and you can enjoy it during your stay and the next
guests can enjoy it also.
Hurricanes
We
NEVER want you to put yourself or family in a dangerous situation. In
the event of a mandatory evacuation, do not stay in the unit, we will
refund your money for the time of the evacuation. If there are other
storms that do not require evacuation, you need to decide if you want
to remain. Storms do happen on the coast and we recommend you purchase
trip insurance (examples: Travel Guard, Travel Safe, or Travel Insure) in case a storm causes you to cancel or shorten your
stay with us.
